Mental Health & Safety

Evidence demonstrates that peer support models and normalising mental health conversations are highly effective in reducing stigma and ensuring early warning signs are identified.   • Our mental health induction briefs cast and crew on the psychosocial hazards and project-specific stressors identified by the production, and ensures every team member understands the support and reporting pathways available for the duration of the project.

  • Moving beyond compliance, this trauma-informed workshop addresses the cultural 'grey zones' of high-risk behaviour. We establish a strong foundation of respect and provide participants with practical, low-risk tools to de-escalate tension in real-time.

Leadership & People Management

Research shows that a lack of management skills directly impacts worker wellbeing, and that skills-based leadership training is highly cost-effective. Our leadership and people management workshops and training were designed in direct response to our 2024 Leadership Matters Report, to provide the industry an avenue to strengthen leadership and people management skills across the sector.

  • This interactive workshop introduces participants to key leadership concepts, exploring the culture of the industry and the important role leaders play in shaping workplaces. It covers the differences between leadership and management, emotional intelligence, and practical ways to build trust and psychological safety.

  • Designed to equip Production Leaders and Heads of Department with the practical skills to manage people on a film or TV production. Drawing on real-world scenarios, we explore how to set teams up for success, have courageous conversations, and use clear communication and early action to make a difference.

  • This workshop is for screen workplaces wanting to understand and adopt the Australian Screen Industry's Mental Health Action Plan ACT NOW recommendations. Designed for business owners, leaders, producers and anyone wanting to better understand the MHAP, this session unpacks the plan, including the practical, low-to-no-cost ACT NOW recommendations, with time allowed for Q&A.

Our tertiary workshops and training tackle the industry’s known challenges head-on by providing students with essential skills, leaving them both prepared and excited for their future screen career.

  • A raw, moving, lived-experience keynote following filmmaker Ben Steel’s journey through depression and recovery, inspiring resilience and providing a message of hope.

  • Tailored for tertiary Film and TV students, this five-module program builds essential mental health and wellbeing skills to prepare emerging talent for the realities of the industry. It supports students to manage their wellbeing and build sustainable careers in the Australian screen sector.
