Turning the Plan into Action
Following the launch of the landmark Australian Screen Industry’s Mental Health Action Plan (MHAP) in May, Screen Well is establishing the Screen Well Foundation.
Supported by foundational seed funding from Prime Video, the Foundation will act as the central coordinating body for the MHAP. To guide the foundation and ensure the MHAP is effectively rolled out across the sector, we are seeking expressions of interest from passionate professionals to join our inaugural MHAP Advisory Board.
The Advisory Board

The Board's immediate focus will be encouraging the widespread adoption of the ACT NOW recommendations across all Australian screen workplaces, before guiding the rollout of the Phase 2 and 3 recommendations.

The MHAP Advisory Board is a non-fiduciary advisory group providing guidance and oversight only (meaning you hold no financial or legal liability for the Foundation).

Four virtual meetings per year (approx. 2 hours each), plus occasional ad-hoc email consultation and reading, as well as optional involvement in sub-committees.

12-month appointment with option for renewal.
Who Should Apply
To ensure our guidance is practical, realistic, and representative of the whole sector, the Foundation is looking for a diverse range of voices. We are specifically looking for individuals who hold expertise or experience in the following areas:
Industry Execs & Production Leaders:
Producer, Executive Producer, Senior leader at a production company or industry organisation.
Mental Health & Clinical Expertise:
Workplace mental health professional, psychologist, or counsellor.
Funding, Legal, Policy & Partnerships:
Expertise in government funding, legal affairs, policy frameworks, legislative environments, philanthropy, corporate partnerships.
On-set Reality:
Line Producer, Production Manager, Head of Department, Freelance or Contract Crew Members
Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) & HR:
WHS manager, safety supervisor, or HR/People & Culture specialist.
Lived Experience:
Lived/living experience of mental health challenges, neurodivergence, or workplace stress in the screen sector.

Advocacy & Partnerships: Guild/Union representatives, government policy experts, and fundraising/partnership specialists.
Lived Experience: Individuals with lived/living experience of mental health challenges, neurodivergence, or workplace stress in the screen sector.

What will the Advisory Board do?
The MHAP Advisory Board is a non-fiduciary advisory group (meaning you hold no financial or legal liability for the Foundation).
The Board will meet quarterly to oversee the strategic rollout of the MHAP. The immediate focus will be encouraging the widespread adoption of the ACT NOW recommendations—a series of realistically achievable actions that all screen workplaces can begin putting in place right now. Moving forward, the board will turn its attention to rolling out the Phase 2 and 3 recommendations, which includes securing funding, developing standardised tools, enhancing workforce capability, and addressing systemic industry challenges.
The Commitment:

Term: Initial 12-month appointment
Time Commitment: Four virtual meetings per year (approx. 2 hours each), plus occasional ad-hoc email consultation and reading, as well as optional involvement in sub-committees.
