For Educators

Screen Well is committed to equipping the next generation of workers with the skills and knowledge they need to navigate the industry and to set themselves up for success as they begin their industry journey.

Screen Well offers screen specific mental health presentations and training programs for tertiary institutions.

If you work at a tertiary institution and would like to learn more about how we can support your students, we’d love to hear from you.

Wellbeing Awareness & Skills Program

Wellbeing Awareness and Skills Program (WASP) has specifically been created to better prepare the next generation of emerging screen talent. Specifically, this program is for tertiary Film and TV students studying creative or technical skills and want to pursue a career in the Australian screen industry. Over five modules, participants will develop the knowledge and skills they need to more effectively manage their wellbeing and thrive in the screen industry.

The five 50min modules can be delivered concurrently in one day, or over a series of weeks, depending on your organisation’s needs.

Navigating A Creative Life

A unique 60-minute keynote presentation that spans the life-long creative pursuit of one creative individual: actor and filmmaker, Ben Steel. From the spark of an adolescent dream and the heights of celebrity and fame, to the depths of depression and suicide ideation, before finding a path to recovery and redemption. Like life, this presentation is an emotional rollercoaster, filled with vulnerability and honestly that will inspire, encourage reflection and provide an overwhelming message of hope.

RESOURCES FOR EDUCATORS

What other educators have said

  • “Screen Well's 'Navigating a Creative Life' keynote was a transformative experience for our final year media students. It offered crucial insights and thereby was an invaluable experience for aspiring creatives entering a demanding film and television industry. We share Screen Well’s understanding that the industry will be more successful if its workforce is mentally healthy.”

    - Professor Lisa French, Dean, School of Media and Communication, RMIT University

  • “Over the last three years NIDA has built an ongoing relationship with Screen Well. Earlier this year Ben delivered the Wellbeing Awareness & Skill Program to our first year undergraduates. The response was positive and our students were engaged and curious about the content. Embedding this material into our student's learning experience is valuable to ensure our graduates enter the industry with an understanding of healthy workplace practices. We will continue to engage and partner with Screen Well moving forward and are so grateful for the work Ben and his team are doing.
